I was born and raised in the wilds of Alaska and taught the value of being independent, hardworking, and believing in myself from my father who was a successful businessman and entrepreneur.
After receiving my law degree from the University of Denver and passing the Colorado bar exam, I accepted a position at a large law firm in Denver. Before long, I realized that the bigger the firm, the less “attorney” time each client received.
I became a lawyer because I wanted to personally help people – not pass clients off to an army of office staff who had little or no interest in the outcome of a case. In 1996, I started my own firm as an independent, sole practitioner.
